To Hell & back...!

My devil in disguise was cranky in the afternoon & I decided to give her some milk and put her to sleep. I closed the door behind me so that she wouldn't walk out to the kitchen... I returned 5 mins later with milk and to my horror realised Ami had turned the door knob thereby locking herself inside... I quickly ran to the balcony door, hoping that door was open but had no luck... Looked for my mobile & realised it was in the room too... Tried the landline and as is usually the case, it wasn't working. I was literally in tears. The only saving grace to the situation was that Ami had not realised what she had gotten herself into & was not crying; even though she kept calling out to me.

I then checked the window & realised that by God's grace it was open. I quickly tried getting over the balcony rail to enter the room but sanity prevailed... I thought if I fell over in my bravity, nobody would even know about it. I quickly called a guard on duty and asked him to come help me. He was kind & asked me to move aside and went in himself. He then proceeded to open the door from inside. 

My little devil was most amused to see the drama unveil... She probably thought we were playing a different version of hide n seek... So while I had been to hell and back in what were the most panic strikken ten mins of my life, the little devil just smiled and clapped. Didn't have the heart to scold her or explain to her that this was wrong & shouldn't be repeated! Well how do you explain to an 18 month old that turning over one knob can mean a trip to hell & back for her mommy...?

So today, Ami went through the rainbow tunnel FINALLY! I had been trying to get her to realise its fun & not something she needs to be scared of... Slowly but surely to my utmost joy, she is opening to experimenting new things... Happy to report that she's not a total introvert! :)

Look who's graduated to straws & sippers... :)

Little Ms. Sunshine just turned sunny side up... Though she has been doing it off & on for awhile- today she officially started her journey into Straws & Sippers. :)

Ganju Patel, tere khopdi mein teil... ;)

My baby got her first haircut on 3rd May... Actually hair shave! ;) With so many people telling us the relative advantages of going Ganj, we decided she was too young to be bothered with vanity, so took the much cooler option towards sanity! :) And am I glad we did... Ami sooo hasn't missed her hair once! And She is soooo much happier without the mane. 

And guess what- as per popular warning we were expecting some drama & tears, but none came... She just sat through it like a young lady, browsing thru her animal book wondering what the fuss was about! :P

She turned 18 months old the next day & did it in style, with the new look... although a few grams lighter :)

Colour me happy :)

So yesterday was the first time we painted... And boy did we have fun...! The colors & the excitement was just too much to handle for Ami & lets not even talk of the mess... :P

Ami wanted to do it all... Hold the brush, touch the paint, clean her hands, use 5 different colors, all at the same time... Seriously it was just sooo much fun watching her. Sure looks like my picasso's born! :)

Evolving the sense of smell! :)

So I have this theory that Ami's senses are evolving one after another... Currently she's into smells... Just about anything & everything needs to be smelled! Well all my perfumes (of course!), the lipsticks & the lipbalms, the creams... Phew! Its fun watching her do it though & her expressions give feedback... A smile later says "nice" a nose crink says "not too great"! :)

March Stuff...

13th March:
The day started with Ami waking me up & a minute later going & bringing her shoes & asking me to make her wear it. She then had fun in her own baby pool (more like play splish-splash)

20th March:
Ami called bhai "Ayakh" today! It was funny to see her calling him by his name instead of the simpler "Mama"! I refused to give her the candy that was just beyond her reach on the table and out came "Ayakh" and pointing at the candy so that he would give it to her! Bhai was not amused at first to see this tiny little pixie addressing him by his name instead of "Mama" but later on Ami's repeated use, he started finding it funny too! :)

Hmmm so officially the first name spoken by Ami is "Ayakh"!
